The North of Scotland Branch of the Society held their Annual Dinner on Wednesday 14th May 2008. This annual dinner was significant as 2008 marks the 20th anniversary of the Piper Alpha disaster. Eminent speakers discussed the merits of the Safety Case regime and the associated improvements to offshore safety and our speakers for the evening were:
• Mr. Chris Allen (HSSE Director, Oil and Gas
UK)
• Professor David Alexander (Director,
Aberdeen Centre for Trauma Research)
Both gentlemen were intimately involved with the Piper Alpha disaster.
