Academic Affiliate Membership
The Safety & Reliability Society Affiliate Membership Scheme for Academic Institutions
The Safety & Reliability Society (SaRS) operates an Affiliate membership scheme for organisations with interests in safety, reliability and engineering risk management. This scheme has proved popular with some of the major companies operating in the major hazards sectors, together with many of the engineering consultancies who support them. We have not, however, traditionally had much take up for this scheme from the universities and other academic institutions who have departments specialising in the field, and who train many of the graduates entering the safety engineering profession.
The Society’s Council has therefore decided to offer the benefits of Affiliate membership to academic institutions at a reduced rate, lower than that charged to industrial members, while maintaining the same package of membership benefits.
These benefits include:
- Copies of each of our quarterly Journal, and monthly Broadsheet for your Library or to place on Notice Boards in your Department.
- The Journal contains peer-reviewed technical articles on developments in the field including case studies, while the Broadsheet provides news of publications, conferences, seminars, plus details of our Branch lecture programme which are open to you and your students without charge.
- Additionally, included with many of these mailings are “flyers” notifying job opportunities in the field which may be of interest to your students
- A 20% reduction in the applicable fee for any members of your staff/students attending the Society’s conferences and workshops
- A 40% fee reduction in the case of those who are also individual members of the Society
- There is no limit to the number of attendees to whom these discounts apply
- Free use of space in our Broadsheet to publicise and provide details of your courses etc. – providing a direct route to a significant body of safety, reliability and risk management professionals. Entries for non-Affiliates are limited to a brief announcement and contact address
- An annual free one-page advertisement for your institution and its courses in one of our quarterly journals.
- Discounted rates for any additional advertising space in the Journal, or for any “mailshots flyers” sent to our membership on your behalf.
- Link from the SaRS website.
The annual membership fee for Academic Affiliates, which runs from 1st July to 30th June, has been set at £270
