The role of offshore wind in the realisation of net zero is significant and, to achieve this, a drastic increase in capacity is required. Increased capacity requires geographical expansion, using new technologies, supply chains and introducing new personnel to the sector; causing an increasing trend in the risk profile which must be managed by operators, manufacturers and contractors operating within the sector. With an increasing risk profile, greater numbers of operators and manufacturers are incorporating traditional process safety techniques to work toward inherently safer design. Whilst the industry is not subject to sector specific regulatory requirements within the UK, the UK regulator has indicated that management arrangements in place should be equally robust as for other offshore industries. Other industry guidance also strengthens this approach to risk management and emergency response planning.

This webinar will provide an overview of the offshore wind sector in its current form, examining different approaches to process safety integration currently being adopted by operators within the sector, and, the challenges, pitfalls and successes experienced in doing so.
